Your land,
our solutions.

See all that Water Roots can do for you.

Flood & Erosion
Mitigation

We transform water excess from menace to resource. Our approach swims against the current. We stop erosion, managing water where it lands.

Regenerative action

We slow, spread and sink rainwater into the ground, acting at the source of the problem, not as a bandaid on the symptoms.

Earthworks & low-tech solutions

We shape landscapes and use simple solutions based on natural behaviors to facilitate soils’ original “sponge” function.

Operational aspects

Common implementations include contour trenches, infiltration basins and diversion canals to capture water and distribute it across the landscape.

Territorial protection

We protect infrastructure by reducing surface runoff and redirecting it towards more suitable locations to be repurposed.

Stream
Restoration

Concrete walls and embankments are one of the causes of the more severe floods. My approach is inspired by natural systems, creating living and self-regulating defenses.

Vegetative reinforcement

I restore embankments with water-loving plants and local natural materials.

Dynamic structures

I make the most of root systems and local woody materials to create a responsive and dynamic structure that lasts longer with little maintenance.

Erosion-proof solutions

I build check dams and beaver dam analogs ( BDAs ) to slow down water and prolong streamflow during dry seasons.

Decisive response

Bank erosion down to the minimum possible and stream biodiversity restored.

Drought
Resilience

Drought is just a symptom of a lack of attention to water in our culture and in our infrastructure. We're working to turn properties into hydrologically self-sufficient units, boosting their natural retention capacity.

Aquifer Recharge

We maximise rainwater infiltration, by redirecting water onto acupuncture points, hence facilitating underground water replenishment.

Improving retention

We design passive systems interconnected with specialised trees and plants to increase soil’s structure and retention ability.

Water buffer

We replenish underground water reservoirs for wild and cultivated vegetation during the driest times.

Wildfire
Prevention

Most wildfires nowadays are symptoms of a faulty water cycle. A dry landscape and poor infiltration rates leave behind the perfect fuel. Our only defence is hydration.

Strategy

We cool the landscape by shading the ground, retaining humidity and recharging the aquifer below.

Natural firebreaks

With water retention measures and the targeted vegetation management we improve upon conventional firebreak strategies.

Fuel management

We treat on-site fuel differently by rethinking its destination and treat it as beneficial mass.

Resiliency

We reduce fire propagation risk in woodlands and rural properties including the same drought prevention thinking that stands us apart.

Regenerative
Tree Planting

Planting the right tree in the right place is a strategic choice for risk reduction in your land. We don’t stop at aesthetics, we design for function.

Selection

Which choose species based on the local biodiversity, and its specific function (shading or soil armoring).

Context

We work on site requalification, functional reforestation, and agroforestry systems integration.

Functions

We optimize land's capacity to clean water, we improve soil's microbiome and reduce landslide risk.

Result

A functioning, balanced ecosystem, not just a pretty landscape.

Tree Climbing

Often it's impossible to intervene on trees with big machinery. Our priority is secure access and precision, focusing on leaving a minimal impact on the surroundings.

Specialist work

With ropes and specialized gear we reach virtually every point of the tree even on impervious terrain.

Advantages

We operate as surgeons with the maximum security possible and a minimal impact on the health of the plant.

Context

Visual health assessments, specialized pruning and controlled felling in otherwise inaccessible areas.

Tree Pruning

Pruning is an art in service of the plant for its stability and its long-term health. A healthy tree is the first line of defense for your home.

Method

We execute structural pruning to balance tree crowns, we consolidate tall ornamental trees, and we increase fruit tree production.

Stability

We maximize tree health, which contributes actively to hydrological and structural stability of slopes.

Goals

Preventing damage below the tree, strengthen the root system and reduce general risk related to the plant.

Edible
Gardens

We transform green spaces into living food pantries. We help people to break free from unhealthy food chains, with diverse systems that require little irrigation.

Method

We design an edible garden that ensures healthy produce and an increased food autonomy.

Design ethics

Our process is based on permaculture principles and on companion planting to maximise soil coverage and biodiversity, hence increasing the survival of plants in times when irrigation is banned.

Content

We include berries, medicinal herbs, support species and fruit trees, applying agroforestry and syntropic agriculture techniques.

Advantages

Control over what you eat and knowing where it comes from, food costs and water bill reduction. Natural pest control and increased resistance against climate extremes.
